B.A. English Literature

B.A. PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (PO)

  • To recognize and appreciate the real-world context of knowledge

The Bachelor of English Literature program aims:

  • To help students to have a strong foundation in English Literature and develop comprehension knowledge of literary history and theories
  • To facilitate and encourage students to read wisely, acquire knowledge of English Literature from various parts of the world
  • To make students proficient in oral and written communication.
  • To develop communicative competency and enable them to communicate in academic, corporate and government domains.
  • To identify language variations (formal/informal, American/British) and use the appropriate variety in a given context.
  • To help students develop critical and analytical skills in interpreting literary texts.
  • To assist the students from rural area in acquiring intellectual and personal skills which are transferable to a wide range of employment contexts and life experiences.

M.A. PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (PO)

  • To demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of selected fields of study in core disciplines in the humanities, social sciences and languages.
  • To work effectively in groups to meet a shared goal with people whose disciplinary and cultural backgrounds differ from their own.
  • To work with independence, self reflection and creativity to meet goals and challenges in the workplace and personal life.

M.A. PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO)

The Master of English Literature program aims:

  • To develop students’ literary competence and to enable them to read, analyze and interpret global literature.
  • To help students to undertake research in the any of the 3 streams of English Studies, Literature, Applied Linguistics & ELT.
  • To prepare the students to seek careers in various fields including teaching or work freelance as translators and media persons, etc.
